Fluid leaking from your car could be for a variety of reasons. Take notice of the fluid colour so that you can figure out which area of your car may be leaking.
The fluids that most commonly drip from a car are:
- water (clear)
- motor oil (light or dark brown)
- brake fluid (clear)
- gear oil (light brown)
- transmission fluid (red)
- windshield wiper fluid (blue)
- coolant (green or red)
Water leaking from a car is very common, especially when you’ve been using the air conditioner. The air conditioner removes moisture from the interior cabin and drains it under the vehicle via a drain hose. This hose is typically located under the passenger's foot well, or in the center of the vehicle just below the dash area.
If you notice that your car is leaking oil, it usually indicates you have a damaged or worn out gasket or a seal. If you notice an oil leak, we recommend bringing in your car, so we can determine just how bad the leak is.
